About Monica

Dear Parents,

I would like to introduce myself to you.

My name is Monica P. Guzman. I am a bilingual teacher partner, working with Mrs. Karen at one of the state's Preschool Classrooms at Captain Hunt.

I would like to tell you a little bit about me, who I am and where I come from. I was born in Colombia and at the age of 15 years old, I arrived to the USA with my parents, two sisters and brother. I am the oldest of my siblings. After successfully receiving my high school diploma at the age of 16 I began taking college classes.

I received certifications, in the Medical, Travel & Tourism, and Secretarial fields.
After completing them, I worked for Notre Dame Hospital, Memorial Hospital and Brown University for well over twelve years before entering the teaching profession.

While working full time during the day, I decided to continue college at Roger Williams University during the evenings, full time, in order to receive my degree in Business Administration. After graduation, I worked for a local company in the accounting department, for approximately four years.

At the age of nineteen I got married and had three wonderful and beautiful children, Veronica, James, and Jessica. My Jessica passed away shortly after birth.  Veronica is now 26 years old and works as a bilingual preschool teacher. James is now 19 years old and attending Mercy College, which is located in New York. He is studying Music Industry & Technology.

My interest in working with preschool children started about 14 years ago. I  love working with the young  little ones. They fill my heart and my days with joy, love, laughter and happiness. My hope is that I can  make a difference in their lives and contribute to their daily learning.
